In October, the Poms & Associates family welcomed Tom Jew as our newest Business Development Executive. Tom brings with him a fascinating journey from high-stakes corporate environments to founding a tech-forward business, all while staying rooted in his love for meaningful connections and community impact. At Poms, he’s found a place where his professional aspirations and personal values align, offering a unique perspective on the importance of relationships in business.

 An Entrepreneurial Spirit Meets Corporate-Savvy

Tom’s career path has been anything but traditional, marked by diverse experiences that have shaped his approach to leadership and relationship-building. Prior to joining Poms, Tom co-founded BuyAgain, a tech-focused company where he led data-driven marketing and sales strategies. He forged alliances with industry leaders, drove innovative AI-driven campaigns, and nurtured client relationships that helped BuyAgain grow its market share significantly.

Reflecting on this entrepreneurial experience, Tom says, “It taught me how to take risks, trust my instincts, and, above all, the importance of nurturing relationships at every level.” This philosophy resonates at Poms, where he’s quickly become part of the company’s people-centered culture and values the warmth and support he’s received from colleagues.

A New Chapter in Risk Management

After a decade-plus with corporate giants like ADP and EY, Tom sought a fresh challenge in insurance and risk management. His time in roles such as Senior District Sales Manager at ADP and Account Manager at EY provided him with a toolkit for navigating complex client needs and delivering meaningful results. At EY, he spearheaded compliance and process improvements for clients facing regulatory audits, enhancing their risk management processes—a skill set he’s excited to bring to Poms.

Tom is diving into the unique challenges of this field, eager to leverage his data-driven approach to create thoughtful, long-term strategies for clients.

“Insurance is about being proactive, not just reactive. I’m looking forward to building partnerships that really stand the test of time,” he shares. His background in sales and account management positions him well to help Poms deepen existing client relationships while building new ones, further strengthening the company’s industry reputation.

The Balancing Act of Family and Career

Tom’s personal life is as dynamic as his career. Married for 18 years, he’s a proud father of two young children—an eight-year-old son and a four-year-old daughter. Family is his anchor, and he finds fulfillment in watching his children’s unique personalities unfold. Tom is also an avid golfer, playing for over 30 years. He relishes the challenging game, a test of patience, mental strength, and endurance. Balancing career growth with family life is a priority, and he sees Poms as a place that values this balance as much as he does.

Tom’s experiences—whether conducting in-depth payroll system analyses, representing his companies at industry events, or developing his team members—have equipped him with a deep understanding of what it means to lead with empathy and vision. His commitment to fostering genuine, supportive relationships is a natural fit for Poms’ people-first philosophy.

With his diverse career, entrepreneurial success, and strong commitment to family, Tom Jew embodies the values that make Poms & Associates a trusted partner in the industry. As he embarks on this new chapter, Tom is energized to make an impact, bridging expertise and enthusiasm to help Poms and its clients grow and thrive.
