Risk Control Services Webinar Series

Poms & Associates Risk Control Services will be providing free webinars aimed at managers and supervisors to answer your questions regarding safety, security, and more!

Please join us for the following free seminar that will help you navigate this challenging situation.

Friday, December 17, 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM PST (10:30 AM - 12:00 PM MST)

You’ve heard the statement, “If it’s not written down, it didn’t happen.” The human resources mantra to managers and supervisors is to “document, document, document,” because disciplinary actions can often give rise to claims of discrimination, leading to high costs of litigation. But do your managers and supervisor know how, when, and what to document?

Properly done documentation is a critical tool you need, to preserve facts and remove ambiguities in defending a legal charge or claim. It also acts as an insurance policy for the company. You need to recognize that your company may have to explain a termination decision long after it occurs. If the employee later challenges an action that had been taken against him as a result of poor performance or a behavior issue or files a grievance or lawsuit, thorough documentation can prevent such actions from continuing beyond the preliminary stages.

In this practical webinar, you will learn about:

• Why, What, When and How to document performance
• Analyzing discipline problems
• Best practices for documenting and carrying out corrective and disciplinary actions
• Practical, defensible documentation techniques
• How to effectively document employee performance
• Documenting performance for correcting performance problems

Employment Policy Manual - Updates, Tips, and Traps for 2022
Wednesday, December 15, 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM PST (10:30 AM - 12:00 PM MST)

Employment policies are important documents in any organization. The policy manual should be reviewed and modified constantly as the workplace and its laws and practices change. Parts of the manual are standard, covering basic rules and legal obligations, but much of the policy is discretionary and tailored to the specific culture of an organization. In this practical webinar, we will discuss best practices for writing policies, and updates you’ll want to make moving into 2022.
